With a lineup featuring veteran musicians Kenny Barefield, Jason Nordquist, Pat Fields, and Matt Retz, Dry County ContraBand brings heart, grit, and groove to every stage they hit. Kenny Barefield – Guitar & Vocals
With over 45 years of experience, Kenny’s been a staple in the Southeast music scene, playing everything from rock to country to blues. A seasoned songwriter and frontman, he’s brought his signature style to numerous bands over the decades. His guitar work is gritty and soulful, and his vocals bring real heart to every performance. Kenny’s the real deal—authentic, road-tested, and always ready to rock.
Jason Nordquist – Drums
If it grooves, Jason’s played it. With 40+ years behind the kit, he’s laid down beats in everything from rock and funk to punk, blues, and country. He’s no stranger to the stage or the studio, having logged hundreds of shows and countless recording hours. Jason brings both power and precision to Dry County ContraBand—and he’s ready to bring the noise to your town next.
Pat Fields – Bass
Pat held down the low end for a solid decade in the Cincinnati/Tri-State music scene with his previous rock and blues outfit. From casinos to blues clubs to the legendary Cincinnati Blues Festival, he’s seen it all—and kept the groove rock-solid the whole time. His deep pocket and smooth style keep Dry County ContraBand grounded and grooving.
Matt Retz – Guitar & Vocals
Matt’s been playing music since age 10, and whether it’s rock, jazz, or country—he brings a pro’s touch to it all. He’s released multiple albums, including Wind of Change (2023) and One Rough Year (2025) with Ain’t Got No Time (AGNT), as well as El Dorado County Line with Colton Mountain and Pay the Piper with Dave Manoucheri. A veteran of the 90s rock scene with Fate Positive, Matt blends rich vocals, sharp guitar work, and a songwriter’s soul into every performance.
